Place the SensePlayer in your hand or on a desk or table top in front of you so that the keypad is facing up, with the numeric keypad pointed toward you.
The Top Face.
The top face of the unit contains the main keypad and stereo speakers.
The top row of keys contains 4 square function buttons. From left to right, these buttons are “Mode”, “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, and “Smart Connect” for connecting the SensePlayer as a Bluetooth keyboard to Smartphones and other devices. These buttons have LED indicators to indicate their status, and the “Mode” button contains a notch on the bottom for quick identification.
Below the function buttons is a navigation pad containing 5 keys surrounded by 4 other control buttons. The control button to the upper left is Home, and the one to the upper right is Menu. The button to the lower left of the nav pad is “Cancel”, and the one to the lower right is “Delete”. The navigation pad contains the Left, Right, Up and Down arrows, and a small round button in the center which is the OK button.
Below these keys is a standard 12 key telephone-style keypad. The keypad is used to enter text, and to perform specific functions in each application on the unit.
Along the top and bottom edges of the front face are the stereo speaker grills.
The Left Edge.
The left edge of the unit contains 6 items: from top to bottom, you will find a small hole for the left microphone, the “Record” button, The “Voice Control” button, the Volume Up and Down buttons, and the Micro SD card slot.
The button nearest the top is the “Record button. Press the record button quickly to access previously recorded content. Long press it to make a new recording.
Below the “Record” button is the “Voice Control” button. The Voice Control button allows you to quickly access Speed, volume, and pitch settings for the TTS, or audio speed, volume and equalizer during audio playback. Cycle through the settings with repeated presses of the Voice Control button, and use the Volume buttons to adjust the chosen setting. By default, the Volume Up and Down buttons will control the volume of the content to which you are currently listening. If you are listening to media, they control media volume. If you are reading a DAISY text book or document file, it adjusts the volume of the reading voice. If you are in a menu or list, by default, the Volume buttons control the SensePlayer’s Main Volume.
Near the bottom of the left edge is a small , rectangular slot. This is the micro SD card slot.
The Right Edge.
The right side of the unit contains 3 items. Nearest the top of the unit is the “Power” button. Press and hold the “Power” button to power the unit on and off. Press the “Power” button quickly to bring the unit in and out of Sleep Mode.
Below the “Power” button is the Keylock switch. Place the Keylock switch in the down position to lock the keyboard and in the up position for normal operation.
Near the bottom of the right edge is located a small hole for the second of the stereo microphones.
The Top Edge.
The top EDGE of the SensePlayer contains only a small hole for looping a carrying strap or lanyard.
The Bottom Edge.
If you move around to the edge nearest your body, you will discover 2 ports. On the left is the stereo headphone jack, and on the right is the USB C port. Use the headphone jack to connect headphones or external speakers to the unit. The USB C port is used to connect the SensePlayer to a PC for transferring files, to connect a thumb drive to the unit, or to connect the AC adapter for charging the unit. You can also use the USB C port to connect an external microphone, line-in, or other USB plug and play stereo audio source.
Accessing key help mode: long press on the circular button in the centre of the cursor cross. Another long press will move you out of key help mode.
Cancel key just above one on the number pad opens the user manual. Press home to exit the user manual.
There is also a quick reference guide for the unit in settings.
