TAVIP Safeguarding Statement

TAVIP is a community of blind and partially sighted people who are committed to helping people use technology in their everyday lives. The services we provide to members include a telephone helpline, a moderated email discussion group, online sessions looking at particular topics, residential seminars and 1:1 training.

TAVIP is committed to the safeguarding of our members and anyone using our services including children, young people and adults at risk regardless of age, ability or disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, and socio-economic background. We are committed to protecting them from potential neglect, physical, sexual and emotional harm while using our services.

This Safeguarding Statement is supported by a Safeguarding Policy which applies to anyone working on behalf of TAVIP including trustees, volunteers, staff or sessional workers. We are committed to ensuring that our safeguarding practice reflects our statutory responsibilities, relevant government guidance and complies with best practice.

TAVIP will promote the safety and wellbeing of children and adults, ensure that appropriate action is taken in the event of safeguarding incidents or concerns, ensure that confidential and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored, ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in place and followed when required, and we will support those who raise or disclose the concern.
