Recruitment of Chair of Trustees

Technology has the ability to transform the everyday lives of people who are blind or partially sighted, and TAVIP provides advice and training to help make that possible.

TAVIP (the Technology Association of Visually Impaired People) is a UK-wide, member-led organisation which brings together both expert and novice users to provide peer support and formal training on accessibility features in mainstream products and on specialist assistive technology. We run monthly training and discussion sessions on zoom, host an email discussion list, run an annual TechaBreak conference weekend and provide 1:1 work-related IT training sessions for people wanting to improve their use of technology to move into, or to stay in work. We are mainly run by volunteers but we also use freelance personnel to deliver specific projects and funded training where appropriate.

We are also increasing our involvement in technology-related strategy and project development work with organisations from across the sight loss sector in order to maximise the impact we make for blind and partially sighted people.

At this exciting time in the charity’s development, we are seeking a new Chair of Trustees who can work with other trustees and members to further develop our services and partnerships, and to manage our resources to have the greatest benefit for our 300 members.

You are likely to have a good understanding of assistive technology, either as a user yourself, or as someone working within the sector, and ideally you will have a good understanding of what is involved in running a small charitable organisation.

You will have the opportunity to attend a board meeting as an observer to get to know us better and we will provide a full induction programme for the successful candidate.
